Egadi Isles

The islands of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo along with the two small islets of Formica and Maraone constitute the archipelago of the Egadi islands.

Levanzo has a triangular shape and is the smallest isle, with a surface of less than six square kilometers, for a coastal shoreline of about fifteen miles.

There is only one road that crosses the isle from north to south. Vehicles are almost non-existent, thus allowing all year round the quiet of the inhabitants of the tiny town and to the visitors. The famous Grotta del Genovese is the main archaeological attractions of this island.

Marettimo, the ancient Hiera, with the small village rising on the flat stretch of land and its two harbors used by local fishermen, is certainly one of the most beautiful unspoilt and interesting islands of Italy, characterized by an extraordinary vegetation, by the cristalline sea and a rich terrestrial fauna that includes deer, mouflon and wild boar.

The beautiful sea coves that abound in the island, can be visited with the old fishermen who daily offer boat trips and excursions.

Do not miss to walk along the well-maintained trail that from the center of the town leads to the top of Mount Falcone (771 meters). Is a real pleasure to stroll in the shade of fragrant pine trees to an overlook of the beautiful shades of blue of the sea cliffs beneath our feet.
