The Stone of Favignana is now experiencing a second youth thanks to the attention that is paid by various Superintendents during the recovery of the huge archaeological and residential buildings that exist on the territory.

Buildings are witnessing the return of using this material in typical way, the so called "face-to-view ", a "green way" to build houses, so to ban as far as possible cement, plaster, industrial materials, and to leave more space for nature and less space to "chemistry".

Hotel delle Cave is one of the greatest examples of ancient buildings, restructured so to take an elegant way to renovate because of lowering itself perfectly into the surrounding arid landscape and deep green gardens. A nature that is there and is not seen, hidden among the tall walls of the cave.

The quarries are now seen as places to visit and to show to the visitors in search of "environment" means both the ancient quarries, with their grandiose suggestions that the modern ones with the huge stage area, the coves derived by patience and engineering capabilities of the old "pirriaturi", quarries garden with plants and herbs of this island as their capers, pomegranates, figs and oregano.

The work of the ancient quarry is exemplified by the presence of a small collection of work tools for mining and processing the stone of Favignana. The past and the future of Favignana continue to be binded with what has been one of its main resources.
